In the Spring of 2016 the members of the struggling Westgate Free Will Baptist Church voted to let the Mission Board of the First Oklahoma Association of the Oklahoma Free Will Baptists to take over Westgate Free Will Baptist. In June of 2016 the mission board installed Kelly Greene as lead pastor of Westgate for the purpose of revitalizing the church that had dwindled down to a little more than a dozen members.
In 2017 God blessed Westgate with 19 new members and the first stages of the revitalization had begun. Westgate added to it's staff Lacey Ives as it's new worship director and children's director. By the Spring of 2018 Westgate Free Will Baptist Church had in essence become a completely different church going in a completely new direction. The time had come to put Westgate to rest and to embrace the church's new direction with a new name. While driving to the church early one morning Pastor Kelly thought to himself, "If I were driving down this road with a tired and aching soul early some Sunday morning what would speak to my heart?" That's when the new name became clear to Pastor Kelly. The name would be simple and to the point. The name would be HOPE Church.
